Treat Acne With The Blue Light Acne Treatment

Blue Light Acne Treatment

Tried all types of acne remedies to treat acne and still suffering from pimples, zits and acne vulgaris? Or are you reacting badly to some of the acne treatments such as Accutane and certain antibiotics?

The blue light acne treatment, or photodynamic therapy may be an option to clear acne once and for all.

Approved by the FDA, the blue light acne treatment is non evasive and natural. The major principle behind this treatment is the focus of a low intensity blue light ray, to destroy the bacteria in the pore (Propionibacterium acne or P.acne) that is causing all the skin eruptions.

Safe for all ages, the blue light procedure will last no longer than 30 minutes. During that time, a topical solution called Levulan will be applied to the skin prior to the treatment, then targeted low intensity blue rays are aimed at the infected sebaceous gland (p.acne), killing all the bacteria that is causing the lesion and inflammation.

Treatment is spaced out during two week intervals and depending on the severity and types of acne, treatment could go on for 6-8 weeks or more. However, it is safe enough to use even on a daily basis, so discuss the interval time with your doctor to get the best results.

The good thing is that blue light acne treatment has very little side effects. The side effects that are encountered are mild and usually take the form of redness, some dryness and swelling. Apart from that, it is a short doctor’s visit, and one that could be the solution to curing your acne.

Blue light acne treatment such as ClearLight and BLU-U are fast becoming the treatment of choice for treating acne. The only drawback for this procedure is the cost. Some doctors also recommend a combination of blue and red light therapy for better results.

Consult your doctor for the best options.

Can Dry Skin Have Acne Problems?

Dry Skin Acne Problems

Are Your Acne Skin Care Products Too Harsh?

Many people believe that acne problems means treating oily skin acne, affecting mainly teenagers, but this is a not true. Many people with dry skin experience the same causes for acne, often as much as people with oily skin.

It is possible to treat your dry skin acne blemishes, but you need to be patient because acne solutions for dry skin will not produce results in one day.

First of all, you need to examine and take a good look at your skin to find out whether it is naturally dry. More often than not, you will find that different types of gels, creams, soaps, and skin cleansers are responsible for drying out your skin, rather than your skin being naturally dry.

If this is so, you may be using products that are made especially for people with oily skin and are too harsh for you. It is better to try other milder alternatives and use products for sensitive skin. Have a look at your acne products and see if they contain chemicals such as peroxide, sulfur, etc. If they are, you are looking at acne products that are made for people with oily skin.

Drinking plenty of water is an effective way to help treat acne regardless of your type of skin. There is no set amount to drink but a large glass of water every two hours is a good general guideline. Your skin is your ‘third kidney’ and any excess toxins in your body can block pores and create acne blemish problems. So developing the habit of consuming plenty of water and that will in time lead to a pimple free skin. In addition, drinking adequate water helps to keep your body and skin hydrated.

If your chosen acne remedy is not working for you after a reasonable period, it is possible that the chemical ingredients present in the products are making your skin drier. Stop the acne treatment for a while and consult your dermatologist for other alternatives. Do not use heavy greasy moisturizing creams, instead look for moisturizing gels and oil free products that can help you keep your pores unblocked.

Aloe Vera gel is another effective method to get rid of acne. Aloe Vera’s leaf gel contains polysaccharides and lipids, which stimulates the immune system, and has anti-inflammatory, antibiotic and antiseptic effects. Supplements in the form of pills or drinks, together with topical gels and creams could prove an effective combination to cure acne. Avoid extremes of temperature when washing the affected areas, as water that is too hot or too cold would aggravate the situation, especially with dry skin.

Once you change to milder  acne skin care products  with less aggressive chemicals, you will find a vast improvement in your skin’s condition. It could well be the harshness of the products that is worsening your acne problems. Use luke warm water to wash your face, eat a healthy and balanced diet, and invest in  acne skin care that is suitable for dry skin.
